ORCA's brand new education programme has moved up a gear with visits to schools across the Portsmouth area.
Wonderful Whales Week, which took place from 16th to 20th October, is a part of ORCA's brand new Whale Education Month project and involved ORCA staff visiting eight local schools and teaching over 700 children about the wonderful world of whales.
ORCA's Education Coordinator, Anna Bunney, spent the week teaching children aged 7-11 about incredible whales and dolphins, their biology, behaviour and conservation as a part of our ongoing education and outreach programme.
More than 110 schools across the world have signed up to ORCA's Whale Education Month, which launched for the first time in 2017.
Anna said: "We have been blown away by the incredible response to Whale Education Month and it's safe to say it has been a phenomenal success. Wonderful Whales Week was absolutely a highlight, and it was fantastic to visit so many wonderful children across the city."
Testimonials have already flooded in, with comments including:
"Thank you so much for visiting us yesterday. The children absolutely loved the workshops and the teachers said it was a fantastic, hands on, experience for the children. We would love for you to come back if you can!"
"Thank you very much for coming to school and chatting to the girls. They were so excited and talked about it lots!!"
