ORCA OceanWatch is coming soon!

22nd Jun 2015

- Community Wildlife Officer Anna Bunney trains the crew on NorthLink Ferries

There's just one month to go until the launch of the first ORCA OceanWatch!

This new initiative is the first of its kind in training crews from ferries, cruise ships and cargo ships to identify and record the whale, dolphin and porpoise sightings they see during their journeys.  OceanWatch will run from Saturday 25th July to Sunday 2nd August as the first offshore component of Sea Watch Foundation's National Whale and Dolphin Watch.  A launch event will be held at Portsmouth International Port on Monday 20th July and attended by representatives from all partner organisations as well as ORCA patron Nigel Marven.

The aim is to create a snapshot of whale and dolphin activity from around the UK during that week and to spread the message of how we can help in their conservation.  Find out more about what's coming up and who's involved on the official OceanWatch page:
