Newcastle school publish a marine conservation magazine ‘Fins and Feathers’

28th Jun 2013

ORCA have been working with Moorside Community primary school in Newcastle since March 2012.  The Your Seas team have held dolphin science workshops, ferry excursions and even taken a small group out on a residential field trip to Amsterdam on board DFDS King Seaways to survey for whales and dolphins!

- Yr. 5/6 children join ORCA in the North Sea to survey for whales and dolphins

After all this work the pupils were so inspired they created a marine conservation magazine. Working with Alex Lockwood from Sunderland University the students took part in creative writing workshops and magazine design sessions to produce this fantastic little magazine.

- Yr.4 children visit the ferry for dolphin science workshops and wildlife watching

Everyone at ORCA is extremely proud of the work these children have put in to help raise awareness of dangers lurking in our seas. Well done Moorside Primary!
