Bottlenose Dolphin Stranding in Langstone Harbour

30th Oct 2014

We received some sad news this afternoon about a deceased dolphin that had stranded just a few miles from ORCA HQ in Portsmouth.  The Bottlenose Dolphin which was male and 2.7m in length, was first sighted by a local resident at around 1pm on Wednesday 29th October on a beach in Langstone Harbour.  No obvious cause  was clear as to why it stranded but the Cetacean Strandings Investigation Programme were contacted to collect the body in order to perform an autopsy to determine its cause of death.

If you find an injured, stranded or dead marine mammal, please contact British Divers Marine Life Rescue on 01825 765546 (office hours) or 07787 433412 (out of hours).
