Tombola Fun At The Metro Centre

The ORCA team returned to the Metro Centre, Gateshead, for more fun packed tombola raffle days on the 10th and 14th of September, 2007.

Although the long summer holidays were fading in the memories of children and adults alike, the weather outside was surprisingly good. Shoppers still roamed the halls of the Metro Centre looking for bargains in the end of summer sales, while in the mezzanines; people sat comfortably, drank coffee and chatted.

ORCA’s tombola days at the Centre are always popular with staff and shoppers, attracting those interested in cetaceans and all marine life, our recycling project and of course the tombola and the chance to win a prize.

ORCA at the Metro centre

The ORCA team is always happy to talk to the shoppers who come to the stall and ask about the work we do. Of particular interest are the surveys, especially on the DFDS Seaways ferry, Queen of Scandinavia, which travels between Newcastle and Bergen, Norway. Those interested in joining us as volunteers, onboard or ashore would be made very welcome.

We will be back at the Centre on November 28th, so please come and see us there if you can.

Our thanks goes to the Metro Centre and all it’s staff and of course to the ORCA team of volunteers who help us, Sarah Madder, Nicola Everitt and Colin Tetley.
